One of my easy, go to breakfasts is this Omega 3 Green Smoothie. I started drinking this smoothie years ago. It’s a quick and easy way to pack in loads of fruits and vegetables, plus omega 3’s. This green smoothie is light and refreshing, and fills you up thanks to the added flaxseed. It makes a great afternoon snack as well.
Below is the recipe. You can easily throw in different fruits and veggies. I have used kale in the past, but it’s a much more bitter green than spinach. You may need to adjust the fruit amounts to your taste.
RECIPE
Omega 3 Green Smoothie
Yields 2 cups.
2 cups packed fresh spinach
1 medium banana
1.5 cups frozen mango
2 celery stalks
2 tbsp ground flaxseed
1 cup water
In a high speed blended, combine all ingredients starting with the spinach. Blend on high speed for one minute or until smooth.
Tips: You may need to add more water if the smoothie is too thick. The frozen mango will make it quite thick. A couple of additions that taste great in this green smoothie are coconut milk, chia seeds, and other fruits. A squeeze of lemon gives a nice fresh taste as well. This is a great base smoothie that you can add to to make it ever more your taste. Enjoy!
